12 year-old Hunter Dewayne Hewett, of Vancleave, died yesterday afternoon in an accident involving a dump truck and bulldozer.
Hunter was helping his grandfather, Johnny Wayne Hewett, unload dirt and got caught between the bed of the dump truck and the gate of the truck when his grandfather backed the bull dozer up to hit the truck’s tail gate. He said he didn’t see the child.
Hunter was taken to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he later died.
The accident happened around 4:25 p.m. at 16102 Omas Road in Vancleave. It is still under investigation by the sheriff department’s traffic division.
