The 10th annual Dancing with the King in Tupelo is scheduled to kick off in less than one month, with the three-day event set to feature numerous performances in honor of the late great Elvis Presley.

The weekend-long festival will start with a Sock Hop dinner and celebrity dance competition on Friday, October 27, where attendees will be able to watch dancers perform their favorite songs from the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll over dinner. Local youth will also compete for scholarship prizes during the event.

Charlise M. Latour, the event’s coordinator, explained during an interview on Good Things with Rebecca Turner that the festival is used to teach younger generations how to dance while also celebrating Elvis’ legacy.

“We know that both bringing dancers together and Elvis music, how could you go wrong with that?” Latour said. “Then making sure that the next generation has the opportunity to learn about dancing are somehow really good things to bring together.”

Saturday night’s festivities are expected to feature the Show Dance Spectacular, which is anticipated to include dinner and a show while amateur dancers showcase prepared routines. The night will wrap up with professional performances that will cover a wide array of dance styles.

“For people who love to watch things like ‘Dancing with the Stars’ on TV, this is a great fun thing to come watch,” Latour said. “It also wraps up with the pros dancing with each other and there’s nothing like watching pro dancers because they really do leave it all on the floor.”

The final day of Dancing with the King will include the annual Traditional Ballroom Dancing Competition, which invites attendees to compete or watch a classic dance competition.

Attendees will be able to see special tribute acts from Jack Curtis, as well as the following dancers:

  • Adam Holt
  • Allie Martin
  • Anthony Knight
  • Beau Melton
  • Ericka Miller
  • Jesse Gillentine
  • Jessie McBride
  • Laken Osbirn
  • Madison Smith
  • Sharrell Polk
  • Tiffany Phillips

Tickets start at $50 per adult and $35 for teens, while those 10 years or younger are invited to attend for free. To purchase, click here.
