One person is dead and five are injured following a Sunday afternoon shooting in Louisville.
Multiple suspects, including minors, are thought to be behind the shooting that took place outside the Louisville Pit Stop on John C. Stennis Drive. According to WTVA, at least two suspects are currently in custody.
“Today’s tragedy due to gun violence fills me, as I am sure you, with many emotions,” Louisville Mayor Will Hill wrote on Facebook. “We as a community have grown weary of the repeated concerns and effects of gun violence, especially its impact on our youth.”
Winston County Deputy Coroner Blake Sheets later confirmed the identity Louisville native Devonte McMillian, 23, who passed away in a Jackson hospital from a gunshot to the head.
Sunday’s shooting is the latest in a string of violence the city has seen. Earlier this month, the body of missing 16-year-old Montevious Goss was found in a wooded area by railroad workers.
